Power wherever you park.

Caravan Solar Installation in Bendigo

Solar is what lets you stop worrying about how long you can stay somewhere. Done properly, it quietly tops your batteries up every day and you simply stop thinking about power — which is the whole point.

We design solar and off-grid systems around how you actually travel: how many nights you spend away from mains, what you run while you're there, and whether you're parked in the open or under trees. That matters more than the number on the panel, and it's why two vans with the same wattage can have completely different results.

What's Involved

How we approach the job

A system sized to your travel

Weekend trips with a fridge and some lights need a very different setup to two weeks off-grid running a compressor fridge, a diesel heater and a Starlink. We work backwards from your usage rather than selling you a fixed package.

Roof panels, portable, or both

Fixed roof panels charge without you doing anything. Portable panels let you park in the shade and chase the sun. Plenty of setups are best with both — we'll give you an honest view on which suits your rig.

Quality MPPT regulation

An MPPT regulator gets meaningfully more out of the same panels than a cheap PWM unit, particularly in cold or overcast conditions. We fit reputable brands and configure them for your battery chemistry.

DC-DC charging from the vehicle

Solar handles the days you're stationary; a DC-DC charger handles the days you're driving. Together they cover almost every scenario, and we'll set the charge profiles so the two work with each other rather than against each other.

Monitoring you can actually read

A shunt-based battery monitor tells you what's genuinely left in the tank instead of guessing from voltage. We'll set it up and show you how to read it.

Tidy, serviceable cable runs

Correct cable sizing for the run length, proper fusing at both ends, and everything mounted so the next person to open that hatch can see what's going on.

Common Questions

Solar & Off-Grid — your questions answered

How many solar panels do I need for my caravan?

It comes down to what you run and for how long, not a rule of thumb. A simple setup with lights and a fridge is a very different calculation to one running a heater, inverter and Starlink. We'll work through your actual usage and size the system to it.

Can you add solar to a caravan that already has some?

Often yes. Plenty of vans come from the factory with a modest panel and a basic regulator, and there's real gain available from adding capacity and upgrading the regulator. We'll assess what's already there before recommending anything.

Do you install Victron equipment?

Yes. We fit reputable brands including Victron, and we'll explain the trade-offs between the options rather than just quoting the most expensive one.

Will solar alone keep my batteries charged?

In good conditions and with enough panel, usually. In winter, under tree cover, or with heavy loads, solar is best paired with DC-DC charging from the vehicle so you're topping up while you drive as well.

Do you service areas outside Bendigo?

Yes — we travel across Central Victoria including Castlemaine, Kyneton, Maryborough, Heathcote, Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just ask.
